I decided to follow-up on my request re our DSL service at home.

I dial 117 and am surprised at the immediate pick-up and the voice inquiring how she can help me. I was taken aback and so I asked, “PLDT ba ito?” The voice on the line replied, “Hindi ko ma’am. 117 police assistance.” “Oh!” I apologized and put the phone down.

I dial 171 instead and the familiar male voice with the familiar litany of choices come on the line. Now, that’s more like it.
